Is there such a thing as a “free” software program?
I wish you had an e-mail notification for your comments.
Kelly, I don’t think there is any free software programs to help you write a Will. Most are affordable but that “affordable” differs from one person to another.
If your situation is complicated i.e. spouse, ex-spouse and minor children, it is better to get professional help when it comes to writing a will. Find the money and get it done.
What if I have a will, which I had prepared by an attorney, a few years ago, and now things need to be changed in that will. Do I have to go back to an attorney, and pay again? Or can I just re-type the document, have my signature witnessed and notarized? Will that document still be official?
Donna, depends on what changes you made to your Will. For example, if you sold a property and bought another, then I’d say it is probably safe to re type the Will.
For other changes, I’d suggest you get a kit or go back to the lawyer because of changes in law or even if you moved to another state, the laws could be slightly different.
I was thinking of creating a will online and having an attorney review before having it notorized. Any advice on where to start?
Hi Scentsy, you can do it online and get an attorney to review it. I’m not sure if the attorney will charge a lower fee for just reviewing a Will vs drafting it for you.
If you have an attorney friend who is willing to review, that would be a great start. Otherwise, you can try out 2 services. O just updated the article. You can find the links above
